Education modernization is regarded as a crucial part of Chinese modernization. On the first day of the conference, Stavros N. Yiannouka, CEO of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), stated in an interview with the 21st Century Business Herald that Chinese education has dual features: one is from the past in terms of values and culture; the other is in the future in terms of technology and innovation. Yiannouka believes that these are interesting developments that the world can be exposed to through China's opening up of its education sector.
